It’s completely normal to have moments of self-doubt, but it’s important to remember that you are worthy of everything you deserve. Building self-confidence is a journey that involves daily practice and self-affirmation. One helpful technique is to start each day by reminding yourself of your worth and capabilities.

Create a daily mantra or affirmation to strengthen your positive self-beliefs. Consistently repeating this mantra can help transform your mindset towards self-empowerment.

Remember, self-worth comes from within, and it’s essential to treat yourself with kindness and compassion. Celebrate your accomplishments, no matter how small they may be, and acknowledge your strengths.

Although self-doubt can be a challenging hurdle to overcome, with the right strategies, you can continue to build confidence in yourself. With consistent effort and self-love, you can overcome self-doubt and embrace your worthiness. Here are six tips that I live by to help me conquer my self-doubt and continue my journey to unlocking my full potential:

  1. Challenge Negative Thoughts: When self-doubt creeps in, challenge those negative thoughts by asking yourself for evidence to support them. Often, you’ll find that they are based on assumptions rather than facts. You can ask yourself these questions:
    1. Am I jumping to conclusions?
    2. Will this matter a year from now? 5 years from now?
    3. Am I assuming I can’t do anything to change my situation?
  2. Focus on Your Strengths: Make a list of your strengths and accomplishments to remind yourself of what you have achieved. Celebrating your successes can help boost your self-esteem and counteract self-doubt.
  3. Set Realistic Goals: Break down your goals into smaller, achievable steps. By setting realistic goals and working towards them gradually, you can build confidence in your abilities.
    • I began to use the SMART goal technique last year and it has made my life incredibly easier. Using SMART goals keeps you consistently moving forward, it shows you that you can accomplish anything by helping you hold yourself accountable.
    •
  4. Practice Self-Compassion: Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding that you would offer to a friend. Remember that everyone makes mistakes, and it’s okay to be imperfect.
    • Try to not judge yourself too quickly.
    • Treat yourself like you would treat your friend.
    • There are so many self-compassion worksheets online that you can use. Journaling and incorporating these worksheets every week is a sure way help you.
  5. Seek Support: Talk to friends, family, or a therapist about your feelings of self-doubt. Sharing your thoughts with others can provide you with a fresh perspective and help you feel less alone in your struggles.
    • Therapy is a luxury. One online therapy option that I have recently gotten acquainted with is Betterhelp.com. I use this for both individual counseling and relationship counseling (Regain.us). If you’re a student or veteran there is a significant discount, and if you still are unable to afford those prices they do offer financial aid which equates to a 10% discount.
    • Family and friends are always a great outlet, especially when you need a listening ear that knows you very well.
  6. Take Action: The best way to combat self-doubt is to take action towards your goals, even if you feel unsure of yourself. Each small step you take will help you build confidence and prove to yourself that you are capable of achieving great things.
